Bohème Sauvage: A Journey Back to the Roaring Twenties
Bohème Sauvage is more than just a party—it's a time machine to the dazzling, decadent world of the 1920s. Born in Berlin in 2006, this extraordinary event series celebrates the spirit of the Weimar Republic's golden age, blending vintage fashion, jazz, cabaret, and hedonistic elegance into an unforgettable night of revelry.
Held in stunning historic venues, guests arrive dressed to the nines in flapper dresses, tuxedos, feathered headpieces, and suspenders, embracing the glamour and extravagance of the Jazz Age. Every detail, from the live music to the décor, is curated to evoke the ambiance of smoky speakeasies, velvet lounges, and hidden ballrooms.
The heart of Bohème Sauvage lies in its immersive experience. You might find yourself dancing to a live swing band, watching a burlesque show, gambling at a vintage casino table, or sipping absinthe while chatting with fellow time travelers. At Bohème Sauvage, you don’t just attend the night—you become it. It's a celebration of freedom, art, and sensuality—a moment to escape modern life and revel in a world where elegance, hedonism, avantgarde and rebellion go hand in hand.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, a lover of vintage culture, or simply in search of a night like no other, Bohème Sauvage offers a magical step into the past, where every detail invites you to live, laugh, and lose yourself in the spirit of the Weimar reborn.

INFO
Dress Code
To step back in time the strict dress code is essential at the festivities. To truly bring the Roaring Twenties to life, the guests are kindly asked to dress in 1920s-inspired attire - not generic or cheap costumes, no Halloween store versions.
Everyone shall take their time to find or put together something that captures the true spirit of the decade. It doesn’t need to be original vintage or expensive, just thoughtfully styled - you want to feel like you’ve walked into a 1920s soirée, not a costume contest.
Strict 'No Phone / No Photo' policy!
Should someone be caught with one of these newfangled pocket cameras, they could face a fine of 25 million Reichsmarks. Instead, our photographer at the Photo Atelier captures images for posterity.
How it all began...
BS was invented and first produced in Berlin in May 2006 by Else Edelstahl. She started out of her personal passion and interest in the Weimar era in Berlin.
The very first event was already attended by 250 guests in appropriate 1920s attire. It was such a huge success that Else had no other choice than to go on. Shortly thereafter, the event became bigger and more popular. The press and television took notice and BS quickly became the talk of the town.
Over the years, a loyal regular audience has developed, but new guests are always finding their way to the BS.
The attendants...
The audience is a colorful mix, from young to old, from well-behaved to wild! Furthermore, Bohème Sauvage has established itself as a meeting place for queer people and free spirits, celebrating the cosmopolitan Zeitgeist and esprit de vivre of the Weimar era in Berlin.
How many attendants?
In Berlin BS rotates between 5 different venues. The smallest one takes up to 400 attendants. The largest one holds up to 800. In Cologne BS has up to 1.000 attendants.
How often does it take place?
BS regularly takes place six or seven times a year in Berlin, twice a year in Hamburg, and twice a year in Cologne. There are also annual guest events at the Volkshaus in Jena and the Kurt Weill Fest in Dessau. Besides the usual parties, there are also excursions, boat trips and other formats.
